The ordination itself was simply incredible. Funnily enough, the same priest baptized him that baptized me! Go figure. I discovered that one of them was baptized at my own home parish, St Charles in Bloomington. In any event, the monks were true to the Benedictine charism of hospitality. What an incredible campus!!! Would that all Catholic colleges had such a nice feeling. On Saturday evening, as usual, there was a holy hour for vocations at 8pm. Before Mass, all four confessionals were being used, and each had a line. As I walked the campus, students would look at me and greet me, “Good morning, Father,” or, “Hi Father.” I popped into the Marian Grotto to light some candles, and several students popped in while I was there. The monastery operates a college by the name of Benedictine College. I was captivated by the beauty of the abbey’s property the moment I set eyes upon it. I want to reflect just a bit here on some of the weekend’s graces. I am so thankful I could be there and a part of this awesome weekend, witnessing a good friend become a priest forever. Thank you to everyone involved in organising these events and to all the former pupils and family members and people of the parish who came to share in this special anniversary.This past weekend saw the first priestly ordination of our class. We had a fantastic evening at the Standard Club dancing the night away to ABBA Deja Vous. To celebrate our Anniversary Father Jonathan said a special Mass of Thanksgiving for the school, this was followed by a family picnic/barbecue. The weekend of 15th - 17th May marked our special celebrations in thanksgiving for the 50th anniversary of St. ST JOHN VIANNEY SCHOOL 50TH ANNIVERSARY: 2014 It was a fantastic day giving everyone in the parish an opportunity to come together and have some fun. They have both committed so much to the children and families of St John Vianney and after many years of working with our children have decided to retire - we wish them both happiness in their retirement but shall miss them both very much. We celebrated the work of Mrs Jackson and her service to Catholic Education & Mrs Teahan our Pre-school Manager, we marked their retirements with a special Mass followed by a BBQ. I want to thank you all for making this a happy and memorable occasion. I write these words early on Saturday morning following the parish celebration for my silver jubilee. The liturgy was so beautifully prepared and celebrated with the great help of our choir, wonderful children and the expertise of our MC and altar serving team. The church was beautifully adorned for the occasion with the magnificent flowers and displays. He marked this occasion with a Mass of Thanksgiving with our parish community. Jonathan celebrated the 25th Anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood. The Church was beautifully decorated to mark the occasion and afterwards we continued our celebration in the Church Hall, where Bishop Kenney cut a cake made especially to mark the 60th anniversary. Bishop William Kenney, Canon Tom Farrell, Canon Jonathan Veasey, Father Emmanuel Gili-Hammet concelebrated alongside Father Sebastian. We celebrated 60 years since the Church first opened its doors on 28th June 2022, with a Mass attended by a great number of parishioners together with a large representation from our school. 28th June 2022 - 60th Anniversary of Church
